PETALING JAYA: Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) has awarded two more work packages worth RM1.55bil to Syarikat Muhibah Perniagaan & Pembinaan Sdn Bhd (SMPP) and Trans Resources Corp Sdn Bhd (TRC) for the Sg Buloh-Kajang (SBK) line.

SMPP’s work package is worth RM1.09bil and will involve the construction of the viaduct guideway (elevated tracks) from Sungai Buloh to Kota Damansara. The job is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2014, MRT Corp said in a statement yesterday.

Meanwhile, TRC, which has been appointed as the main contractor for the Sg Buloh depot (DPT1) contract worth RM459.9mil, will start work soon and expected to end in the first quarter of 2016.

“DPT1 will be constructed at the Rubber Research Institute covering 65ha. TRC’s scope of work will include the Sungai Buloh maintenance depot, operation and control buildings, external works and other associated works,” it said.

MRT Corp have made available 85 contracts of which 33 had been awarded, with 21 more contracts currently being evaluated and 31 are yet to be called.

Of the 33 awarded packages, seven are for viaduct packages and one for depot. One viaduct package (V8: Taman Mesra-Kajang) and one depot package (Kajang) are yet to be awarded. The two packages will be awarded in the third quarter.
