THE STAR: MRT Lines 2 and 3 in Progress

KLANG Valley residents are eagerly anticipating the completion of Klang Valley MRT’s first line by 2017 to enjoy much-needed relief from traffic congestion in the city. The good news is, the overall progress for the first line is already one-third of the way.

According to an announcement during a Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) press conference, progress on the elevated section is around 23%, while overall progress of the underground section is even more impressive, with tunnelling and underground works having crossed the 50% mark this month.

Within this context, it is surprising that there has been a deafening silence on the announcement of the much-awaited second and third lines.
